If there is something that is distracting the viewer from the subject then you can crop it out.
Clip the part of the video that you want to be seen by the viewer.
Chose the song or audio that you want to be heard by the viewer.

OPTIONAL Some editors don’t but it is important to add your wall-mark on the edit so that you get credit for your work (it is more that your work would not go un-credited or stolen if you add your wall-mark).
